atcr forever!
This coming autumn will see the release of the 2008 remixes of Rapid Eye’s ‘Circa-Forever’. Originally broken in 2002 following a 4 month long hammering from the combined forces of Tiësto & Armin van Buuren, the track went on to become one of the biggest selling releases on ATCR. Compiled onto over 20 compilations over the course of that year, its popularity has endured amongst clubbers & DJs through to this day.

Over 2 promos, Galen Behr & Orjan Nilsen and Maarten de Jong (Holland), Aly & Fila (Egypt), Mike Saint-Jules (USA) Ivan Spell (Russia), Corderoy (UK), JPL (Sweden) have all fashioned new takes on Steve Helstrip & Tim Stark’s much-loved trance classic. Check back on the site over the coming weeks and months where we’ll update you on hype and release news!

those remixers, those remixes!
Disc #1: Launching the remix package (and providing the classic 2008 update to the R.E.mix) Aly & Fila have landed a huge, euphorically faithful rework. Pre-promoed to just five DJs, it has already scored spins from Armin on ASOT & Eddie Halliwell on his (gone but not forgotten!) Radio 1 show. Galen Behr & Orjan Nilsen’s equally uplifting re-wash came to light when a YouTube link of them playing it at the Luminosity gig in The Netherlands landed in our inbox. Big, powerful and with a hypnotic twist to the riff, the label were hooked in an instant! Heading State-side, New Yorker Mike Saint-Jules explores the outer reaches of the track’s melodic side with his piano tipped, celestially atmospheric re-cutting. Prog maestro Ivan Spell has added a whole new dimension to ‘Circa’, applying some real groove, funk & squelch to the production track, carving out a whole new vibe to the track in the process.

Disc #2: Mike Shiver applies his soaring, transcendent 'Catching Sun' touch to 'Circa', which, out of the break ends up somewhere in the troposphere! Plumping for a full-force podium-pulversizer approach on his mix, Corderoy has turned the mainline from the ‘Iberia’ mix into a big, BIG room moment! Dutch newcomer Maarten de Jong has done a standout job over his Overture and Main mixes of re-wiring ‘Circa’ as a driving, thrilling and fully-organic Tech-Trancer! Tying things up, Joni ‘JPL’ Ljungqvist delves deep into his trademark Scando-trance sound for an evocative super-chilled rewash.

biography
ATCR was born in the university town of Oxford, England during the summer of 1998. Set up by Tim Stark, during his time working at dance giant Amato Distribution, it was initially designed as an outlet for tracks originating from a small group of EDM artists living in the area. Through early releases like Pulser's 'Cloudwalking', Insigma's 'Insigma', Free Radical's 'Surreal' & Rapid Eye's 'Never Going Back', its instantly-recognisible silver, red & white 12” covers became a an almost immediate fixture in the record boxes of some of the world's best-known DJs. Over the following years, it let loose a string of hits, including Goldenscan's 'Sunrise' (which was remixed by Tiësto and was signed to Virgin's VC; Records) & DJ Garry's 'Dream Universe', which went into the national Top 40 on Xtravaganza Records. Steve 'Thrillseekers' Helstrip & Tim Stark's group Rapid Eye formed the core of the label's output, releasing a total of 7 tracks, including proto tech-trancer 'Absolut', fanboy fave 'Santa-Cruz' & all-out anthem 'Circa-Forever'. Andy 'Pulser' Perring's 'Cloudwalking' remains the best selling 12" in the label's history. He, in tandem with Steve Helstrip formed Insigma, who's releases (‘Open Our Eyes’, ‘Insigma’ & ‘Avalon’) also played a key roll in defining the label's sound. In September 2008 the label was re-launched with the re-release and remix overhaul of the mighty 'Circa-Forever'.
